      I believe I understand. I think that the problem I have is understanding that current does not have to have voltage. What I mean is that the last load in the circuit should have no voltage on the return side of it. In my mind, electrons are pulsing back and forth…but the current stays directional from Higher potential to lower potential. I think this is what was goofing me up. I wanted to believe that the current that has electrons in it pulse back and forth…when actually…current flows like water…directionally. Am I understanding this correctly?

        Scott,

        Since electrons move as a result of voltage potential difference…why does polarity matter again? Polarity is where I seem to be missing the boat. Polarity exists in single phase and split phase…correct?
