August 2, 2020 at 12:15 am in reply to: Refrigeration….Just when you thought it was safe to be here; I’m Baaaaaack..! #19442So, what do most people do at 11:10 PM on a Saturday night? Well, I dunno about most people but I send questions to my most esteemed Samurai teaching duo. My question tonight deals with the wire harness trick Scott demonstrated on the failed Inverter Board. Has there ever been a time where that swap out technique could NOT be used because the wire harness itself from the old inverter board was bad..? And, if so, how do you navigate that issue…? Also, does Scott like that Klein NCVT-4IR better than an actual IR gun..? Thanks..Darren

Thanks again Susan..

July 10, 2020 at 12:13 am in reply to: Refrigeration….Just when you thought it was safe to be here; I’m Baaaaaack..! #19371Got it…many thanks. Key words to be aware of. While I’m here, I have another question for the Masters of the Brown Temple of Appliance Repair. During the webinar again. When Scott gets to the last example of common issues, Frost or excessive sweating, one of the possible causes of an Airflow Problem he mentions is “cabinet square”. I’m not familiar with that term..appreciate any info you have and as always, thank you.

July 4, 2020 at 12:31 am in reply to: Refrigeration….Just when you thought it was safe to be here; I’m Baaaaaack..! #19333Okay, some clarification now….I guess what I’m asking is, if the defrost system is failed, would it still be called an airflow issue…? That is my sticking point because the quiz question says 100% airflow issue….thx…again…..and again…:)
July 4, 2020 at 12:09 am in reply to: Refrigeration….Just when you thought it was safe to be here; I’m Baaaaaack..! #19332Okay, I’ve tried twice to post a new question and keep getting an error message so will try this….
I just finished watching the webinar for Unit 1 Module 2, Troubleshooting…I like to review so afterwards, I went back to review Module 1, Unit 7 on Airflow Systems to review Dampers.
The text in the unit before the first video says the following;
In a single-evaporator refrigerator, all the cold air is made in the freezer compartment (where the evaporator coil is) and then a portion of that air is blown over to the fresh food compartment. If anything interferes with that air flow, the fresh food compartment will warm up. A common complaint you’ll hear a lot in the field is that the freezer seems cold but the fresh food compartment is warm. The most common cause for this is a failed defrost system. This may seem counterintuitive to you at this point but you will understand this and much, much more by the end of this unit.The webinar video used this example of Cold Freezer, Warm FF…the text says failed defrost system.
Fast forward to the unit quiz, Question #12
Question #12: In a single evaporator refrigerator, 100% of time, the complaint of normal freezer temperatures and warm fresh food compartment is always due to a:
Correct
Your Answer:
Airflow problem between the freezer and fresh food compartments.Correct answer, Airflow problem…
Am I missing something here as it relates to Defrost and Airflow..? I know that they are two separate parts of the FMS in a fridge…Appreciate any light you can shed.
Thx

Hey There,
Is it possible to get a breakdown and description of the two part final..? Wondering about time limits, number of questions, what I might need to assist myself (calc, pen/paper, etc.) Also types of questions, is there any study ref like with the midterm? Appreciate any info you can share. I am just in study mode for now but wouldn’t mind any available update.Thanks
