Ok a ground fault has no potential difference it is a short to ground. Therefore may answer was bad, every bad… because if it does not clear the breaker you Could be killed. Maybe asking what the difference between short and ground fault is. Ground faults can and do cause very strange things to happen with electronics. We know appliances are full of them.I don’t think I’m over thinking the question maybe it’s the electrician in me. Appliance technicians should be aware of this possible death trap. By Definition a ground fault is a Short To Ground not a potential difference because a Short has no potential difference. My reason for taking the course is to understand how electronics are applied in appliances. Enjoying the course. This all applies to appliances as well as any other equipment.

The reason I chose my answer that I got wrong was. A ground fault could be life or death if it does not clear the breaker as in a improper ground of a sub panel. Sub panels require a separate ground run back to the main panel and in some cases unfortunately it is not it is simply run to a ground rod that will not clear a fault. New code requirements are to run a ground all the way to the pole.

Ok the explanation given in question #12 is referring to a GFCI. It’s the same explanation given in question #11. I really think a different set of answers would be better for question #12.just saying.
